Both the pleasures and stresses of life, along with the simple passage of time, tend to cause our skin to appear older. The signs of aging and sun-damage are typically most visible on a person’s face. While numerous treatments, from simple creams to major surgeries exist; to improve various facial flaws, skin specialists have always sought dramatic improvement with low risk and no “downtime”.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatments, Glycolic and TCA Peels and in some cases Laser Resurfacing can be used to the skin’s surface. These can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively, such as broken capillaries, skin discoloration, age spots, freckles, mottled pigmentation, birthmarks and the symptoms of rosacea and wrinkles.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatments are a non-invasive method of photorejuvenation to improve the appearance of the skin. It utilizes intense pulsed light to effectively treat rosacea, facial flushing, red chests and necks, brown spots, sun damage and irregular skin pigmentation on all skin types. Photo damaged skin with hyperpigmentation (brown spots); skin laxity, enlarged pores, wrinkling, and telangiectasia (veins) can be improved with IPL treatments. The short wave length laser light is used to rejuvenate skin of the face, neck, chest, arms or hands. Specific settings are selected for each treatment area for optimal results. Visible improvement is achieved with little discomfort and minimal risk.

Glycolic and TCA Peels are a safe and painless exfoliation process that removes a micro-thin top layer of skin and treats skin damage. This form of skin rejuvenation uses an acid to remove damaged cells on the top layer of skin. Removal of damaged cells stimulates cell division that results in plumper, healthier young cells. The Peel procedure smoothes and softens the skin, diminishes fine lines, decreases acne outbreaks, evens out coloration and lightens hyper pigmented areas and can be performed on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs.

Laser Resurfacing can improve wrinkles and sun-damaged skin in certain patients. The laser accomplishes this by vaporizing superficial damaged skin cells and allowing the remaining collagen to become thicker and healthier. As a result, fine wrinkles will be removed and deeper wrinkles improved. The laser can also tighten your skin, smooth your skin texture, improve your complexion and even out your skin tone. Laser resurfacing is not suitable for all skin types; therefore Dr. Boxrud recommends that she evaluate your skin before any decisions for treatment are made.
