| Restylane is able to combat the effects of time, and various environmental factors by restoring the youthful contours of one’s skin. Each of us has good natural lines that can be emphasized and improved. Restylane can be used to give you a long-lasting and natural beauty lift: smoothing wrinkles and folds, or giving your mouth a fuller, more sensuous form. Restylane is injected into the skin under the wrinkles and folds in very fine amounts. The injected gel gives natural volume under the wrinkles or folds which lifts the skin and smoothes it out. Restylane can also be used under the eyelid and brow to give volume. Restylane is made from hyaluronic acid, a material that occurs naturally in the skin and joints. The benefits of Restylane treatment should be visible anywhere from 6-12 months, depending on the location of the treatment and the nature of the patient’s skin. For example, highly mobile areas like the lips tend to require at least a touch-up treatment after 6 months. Areas where there is less movement may only require an additional treatment after 12 months. A treatment takes about 15 minutes and the results are instantaneous.
