UNUSUAL FOODS THAT HELP BURN BELLY FAT- MUFAS?

Mono-unsaturated fatty acids also known as MUFAs (pronounced moo-fah) are plant-based fats found in some of the most delicious foods! Studies show that these “good-for-you” fats enhance heart health and protect against chronic disease. The latest research shows that these dietary superstars may even target fat that is hardest to loose- the fat in your belly!

Almonds-
Almonds contain plenty of monounsaturated fats and are easy to add in to your healthy diet. Eating about 10 almonds a day is believed to reduce belly fat because they are nutrient-dense and a low calorie snack that helps suppress your appetite and cravings. Be sure to eat natural almonds, instead of salted or sugar coated, as some types of enhanced almonds may increase belly fat!
Avocados
Avocados are rich sources of potassium, vitamin E, B vitamins, iron and fiber. They keep you healthy and satiated. Avocados are rife with monounsaturated fats, which help you shed stomach fat. Lastly, avocados help your body absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, like beta-carotene and lutein.
Olive Oil-Like almonds, olive oil contains plenty of monounsaturated fats, to aid in belly fat loss. Olive oil is a versatile oil that can be used for cooking, mixed with stir-fry meals, spread over salads or used as a dipping sauce for breads and vegetables. Choose extra virgin olive oil, because this type is less processed and richer in antioxidants than other types of olive oil.
Dark Chocolate-This ought to please dieters with a sweet tooth. Dark chocolate is approved on many belly fat loss diets, because it is rich in antioxidants called polyphenols. Dark chocolate does not contain the added fats and sugars like milk- and white chocolate, and its high monounsaturated fat content helps prevent accumulation of centralized body fat. One or two pieces for dessert helps cut cravings for unhealthy snacking.

Other foods known to help burn belly fat-
Flaxseed Oil
According to Ann Louise Gittleman, author of the "Fat Flush Plan," 1 tbsp. of flaxseed oil daily can help reduce fat and boost metabolism. Flaxseed is advocated on every abdominal fat diet and offers a high-quality source of omega-3 fats, which assist in liver, brain and heart function. It can be used as a dressing or in cooking or baking your favorite foods.
Greek Yogurt
Greek yogurt is strained to remove the liquid whey, and this filtering process also removes some of the lactose sugars. The American Council on Exercise compared a Greek yogurt to a traditional yogurt and found the Greek version had less than two-thirds the fat-creating sugar and carbohydrates, and twice the protein as regular. High-protein foods makes you feel full longer so you eat less throughout the day.
Protein Powder
Although you may think protein powder is just for body builders, "Quick & Simple" magazine points out these supplements contain amino acids which burn away belly fat. Add a little protein powder to a healthy fruit smoothie for a low-calorie meal. The high protein content keeps you feeling full so you won't be tempted to snack.
Peanut Butter
You may not think of peanut butter as health food, but this high-protein snack not only helps keep your cravings under control, but contains niacin, which is important to proper digestion. Gram for gram, peanut butter is high in fat so should be limited to snack-size portions. Avoid peanut butters with added sugars and stick with all-natural brands.
Ice Tea
In an article in the journal "Obesity Reviews," researchers searched the literature for research on several supposed fat-burning supplements and found evidence supporting the claimed fat-burning functions of green tea and caffeine, which is in traditional black teas. "Quick & Simple" recommends four glasses of ice tea per day to enhance your body's fat-burning processes. Avoid bottled teas and don't add sugar to your home-brewed teas.
Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
"Quick & Simple" recommends this Italian hard cheese because it has more protein than any other dairy product, so will keep you from getting hungry. The University of Wisconsin says, however, that this cheese activates natural fat-burning hormones in your body. One ounce of the cheese per day is the recommendation.
Egg Whites
Egg whites are one of the best sources of protein because the body readily absorbs them. Egg whites keep your metabolism revved-up for maximum fat burning. Egg Whites are also a great option for people who do not take protein from meat, since egg whites contain amino acids to rebuild and repair muscles damaged from exercise.

Spice up your bath for better skin-

Cayenne, Paprika and Turmeric are spices that can help get you the skin that you’ve always wanted. Cayenne and Paprika have characteristically rich, red and brown colors and are a source of Vitamin A and C. In fact, two teaspoons of Cayenne contain nearly 30 percent of your daily recommendation of Vitamin A. Vitamins A and C are antioxidants which absorb free radicals that break down your skin’s collagen (collagen is what keeps your skin plump and firm). Bright orange Turmeric Spice contains a substance called Curcurmin that studies have shown to inhibit cancer cell growth and encourage cell suicide (which is what we want cancer cells to do). While none of the studies have assessed skin cancer specifically, the trending effect of turmeric is encouraging. Turmeric also has anti-inflammatory agents that can be helpful in reducing the inflammation that goes along with acne.

Mix these spices in to your next bath and be one step closer to getting the skin you’ve always wanted.

Foods to Feed Your Skin

Our skin serves to protect but much of the moisturizers and serums we use on it do not absorb like what we inject through our digestive tract. Vitamins and antioxidants work internally to effect externally. Here are foods you need in your diet every day to ensure you’re getting the right balance of nutrients to nourish and protect your skin and keep the weight in check.

Citrus. Oranges, grapefruit, kiwi and strawberries are great for their high levels of vitamin C, a powerful skin saver, rejuvenator and protector. Vitamin C reduces inflammation (that leads to acne), protects collagen breakdown (that leads to wrinkles) and even repairs sun damage (that leads to age spots). Go for fresh varieties rather than juice, which can be high in sugar, a substance you need to avoid for your skin’s sake.

Berries. Fruits that are rich in color, like blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, contain higher levels of antioxidants than more mildly color fruits and veggies. Antioxidants are vital to include in your diet because the fight free radicals, which are unstable extra electrons that seek out other extra electrons from healthy cells, damage them, creating even more free radicals. Antioxidants play interference by binding to free radicals before they can cause damage that leads to dull, lifeless skin. With winter on its way, fresh berries may be in short supply, so opt for the frozen variety that you can blend into a smoothie to get your daily dose.

Poultry. Stick to free-range or organic turkey or chicken, if you can find it, to help boost collagen internally. Collagen is a protein found in our skin, bones, cartilage, tendons and tissues that adds valuable support to skin cells. At about age 35, natural production of good-quality collagen starts to taper off, so it’s important to eat high-quality proteins to replenish it. You’ll be rewarded with less cellulite, tighter skin and fewer stretch marks and wrinkles. Additionally, the tryptophan naturally found in poultry will help you achieve some much-needed beauty sleep.

Green veggies. Pair your poultry with green vegetables (like spinach and kale) to double-up on collagen production and protection. Plus the high dose of vitamin C in green veggies boosts the immune system and promotes tissue growth.

Nuts. Especially walnuts, if you can tolerate them, because they contain a good dose of omega-3 fatty acids, which are necessary for cellular repair. Grab a handful (but no more to keep your calorie consumption in check) or sprinkle some chopped walnuts on a salad, oatmeal or low-cal frozen yogurt. If you’re allergic to nuts, choose another omega-3-rich food every day, like olive oil, salmon or avocados. Omega-3-rich foods even strengthen the skin’s natural sun-barrier function.

Green tea. If you still aren’t drinking green tea, despite everything you’ve read, now’s the time to start. This powerhouse beverage is chock full of antioxidants that ward off free radicals that damage the skin, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a potent anti-inflammatory that reduce redness and sensitivity in the skin. Plus, green tea is believed to play a role in weight loss and blood pressure reduction
